As we read the book, Esperanza Rising by Pam Munzo Ryan, we identify with the main character, Esperanza, as an immigrant making her way in her new homeland (The United States of America).

My parents were both born here in America. My dad in Sandwich, and my mom in connecticut.

My grandparents from my dad's side and my dad immigrated to America from Portugal in 1978, when my dad was only 8. My grandparents from my mom's side immigrated from Portugal also, but my mom was born in America.

My ancestors are from Portugal. They came here to see me and my family. There voyage was like they went on a journey to China.

My mom is from Canton, MA she was born in America so sh is not an immigrant. My dad was from Middleboro ,MA and i don't know if any of my anncesestors are immigrants.

I have an ancestors that were from russia. For example my mom is from Russia. My great aunt is too. My mom traveled to America from Russia. She traveled there so she could mary my father who already lived in America. Together they moved to Rochester MA.
